Nature Explorer Trail Series

Nature Explorers, discover four local Pigeon Lake nature areas: Rundle's Mission, Graves Nature Sanctuary, and the Village at Pigeon Lake Walking Trail. Learn about species that are vital to the health Pigeon Lake watershed.

What You Need

  • Nature Explorer Trail Series Challenge Card

  • Pencil, marker, stickers or bingo dauber

What to Do:

  1. Download and print the PLWA Nature Explorer Trail Series Challenge Card for the trail you are visiting

  2. Go on a nature walk with friends and family at one of the feature trails at Pigeon Lake: Rundle's Mission, Graves Nature Sanctuary, Village at Pigeon Lake Walking Trail, and Pigeon Lake Provincial Park Campground Trail

  3. Complete the Challenge Card as you go

  4. Share your adventure with us! Through social media or email info@plwa

Challenge #1 - Rundle's Mission

Location: 47436 RR # 15 Lakeshore Drive, Rundle’s Mission Beach

Challenge Instructions: Download your card and go on a scavenger hunt! Can you find all the plants, birds and bugs?

Challenge #2 - Graves Wildlife Sanctuary

Location: One entrance is along Argentia Beach, there is no parking lot. Another, is from highway AB-616, turn south onto Range Road 11, the parking lot is at the end of the road.

Challenge Instructions: See how many types of species you can find! Who can find the most? Bonus challenge. Can you name the different species?

Challenge #3 - Village at Pigeon Lake Walking Trail

Location: Accessed between the buildings of The Village at Pigeon Lake Inn

Challenge Instructions: Be a nature artist! Keep an eye out for plants and animals while exploring the trail. When you spot something really cool stop and draw a picture of it.
