1944 - Sawdust from Wood Mills

“Current residents may remember the large sawdust pile that remained on the park (Ouimette Park) site until 1944, when it finally burned to the ground…this pile of sawdust and wood chips, 110 feet high, sat there for years. Occasionally, in the summer, the pile would catch fire and burn. The dense smoke that covered the area would make a walk to the town site of Mulhurst difficult.
