1950’s-1990’s - Sailing on N.Pigeon Lake

“In the 1950’s there were only a few sailboats on Argentia…In the 1960’s and 1970’s sailing became increasingly popular….In the early days, any competitive sailing races were held at Itaska. When the Silver Bay Sailing Club was organized, races were held each Sunday, at Silver Bay. The opening race of the season was the Manning Regatta held at cottage #42 [in Argentia] on the July 1 week-end. It was a colourful sight to watch the arrival by water of many sailboats on the evening before the race…A Junior Sailing Club was formed with races every Saturday….
