1968 - Ice Heaves & Shoreline Damage at Argentia

“One of the first things we did was to cut down the trees between our cottage, and the lake, and make a nice lawn there, complete with retaining wall, which we had to repair almost every spring because of the damage done to it by the winter ice. The changing water levels of the lake, together with the strong winter winds, cause the ice to pile up on our lovely, sandy, Argentia Beach, wrecking many fine retaining walls.”
