In 1957 the Provincial Government set aside land for the creation of a park, which was for a time the smallest provincial park in Alberta. It has since become owned and operated by the band members as the Four Nations Campgrounds 1 and 2. Painted signs remained along Highway 13 as late as 2018, indicating the locations of each campground. Campground #2 is located at the south entrance to Ma-Me-O Beach and has been run by Indigenous families since its creation. This shoreline area of Pigeon Lake has been observed to have significant wildlife activity along with naturally growing plant species. The area of Ma-Me-O Beach is located within the Boreal Forest Natural Region and the Dry Mixedwood sub-region which aids in creating an abundant natural habitat for many wildlife species. It has been observed as well vegetated with mature spruce and poplar trees. Some areas contain a shrub layer of willows, prickly wild rose, and red-osier dogwood and saskatoon bushes.

Excerpts have been utilized from the Summer Village of Bylaw No. 375 | November 2020 MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN to expand on the indicated areas of this posting.
