Have we studied water quality at Pigeon Lake?

PLWA works with the Alberta Lake Management Society to monitor our lake ecosystem.

The ALMS LakeWatch program is intended to build a better understanding of the lake ecosystem, and its overall health. Parameters collected by ALMS reflect some of the most important lake water quality variables including clarity, oxygen, temperature, nutrients, metals, cyanobacteria toxins, chlorophyll-a, zebra and quagga mussels, and more.

PLWA also coordinates a number of other community science programs that are dedicated to monitoring the health of our whole watershed. These programs include: Mussel Monitoring, CreekWatch, LakeObserver, Secchi Dip-in

Benchmarks for our research and monitoring can be found in the Pigeon Lake Watershed Management Plan Technical Report.
